I have many memories of Abida Khala. Growing up I remember her frequent visits to Chicago. She made such an incredible effort to visit and keep family relationships strong. I remember her independence which during her later years was commendable. She could do so much on her own and through her actions taught us all to never give up on achieving anything. I vividly remember the many times I took her to the airport and she would never want me to take her to the gate (remember when anyone could go all the way to the departure or arrival gates). Even though she didn’t want me to take her I always would and would sit with her until she boarded.
She would always give me such good advice on many things. I remember her work ethic. She could do more than anyone her age and would always be so busy during her trips to Chicago cooking, meeting relatives, and as others mentioned things like knitting. I remember how much she loved her siblings. I also remember how much she also talked about and loved her children and grand children. May Allah ST elevate their ranks in Jannatul Firdaus iA
I have only vague memories or Naim uncle but I do remember brief conversations with him where I was always so impressed with his knowledge and ability to communicate so well with us as young kids. His professional accomplishments were vast and something we should remind us all of what we should strive to emulate from him.
