Biography
Nawab Aziz Jung Bahadur’s grandson and Aliuddin Ahmed, Nawab Deen Yar Jung’s son, Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed was a member of the Indian Administrative Service. A man with outstanding administrative and Scholastic abilities.
Dr. Ahmed as a youth was very serious about his education, work, and the burden he was expected to carry being the descendent of a highly qualified family of administrators and scholars. While still young he organized the ‘Iqbal Day’, and ‘Yom-e-Villa’. He founded the ‘Villa Academy’, and published several books authored by Aziz Jung Villa, by him and by other authors.
In 1946 he was deputed to study Endowments (Muslim Wakf) to Europe, where he spent several years educating himself the Endowments in UK, Germany, Greece, Czechoslovakia, Turkey and Switzerland.
While in Europe and Japan he donated several Urdu books to the overseas libraries to promote the Urdu language under the ‘Pustak Daan’ movement in the mid-1950s. He attended World Pacifist Conference and the World Religion Congress in Japan to promote World Peace in 1954.
An able administrator, an eminent scholar, and author of several books. He wrote 38 books in his life- time. His scholastic publications were published worldwide. While just a student Dr. Ahmed’s two bookswere published, ‘Fitri-Ilaaj’ (The Science of Nature Cure), and the Urdu translation of ‘Srimad Bhagavath Gita’.
In 1973 he earned his PhD from the prestigious Indian Ivy League University Jamia Millia in New Delhi founded by Dr. Zakir Hussain, President of India.
Dr. Ahmed spent more than 35 years serving the State and Central Governments in India and occupied high positions. While in New Delhi in 1973 his Magnum Opus ‘Urdu Word Count’ was published. This book was released by the then Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi and was presented to her by I. K. Gujral who was then the Cabinet Minister of Information & Broadcasting and later, Prime Minister of India.
In 1975 the President of India, Fakhreddin Ali Ahmed released another noteworthy publication ‘Anjuman’ in New Delhi. 700 years of Amir Khusrau was published in New Delhi in 1975 under close supervision of Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed. He also contributed by authoring the Preface to the book.
Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed was responsible for the construction of Ghalib Hall in Mehboobnagar District. While he was still at Mehboobnagar he founded a school for the poor, which was run by the officer’s wives initially. At present the school is fully funded by the government and has full time teachers.
Dr. Ahmed was the President of Indo- Middle East Cultural Studies, Founder-President Villa Academy, and General Secretary All India Amir Khusrau Society whose Vice President was Governor Ali Yaver Jung and it’s President was the President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed was a very close friend of the President of India. The Amir Khusrau Societies were introduced in Canada, USA and UK by Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed.
While in United States in 1980, Dr. Ahmed founded the Amir Khusrau Society of North America, which was run under various administrations for the past 30 plus years. In 1987 the Iqra Publications International published his book, ‘An Easy Way to the Understanding of the Qur’an’. This book originally in English was very highly acclaimed worldwide and was translated into several languages including Turkish, French, Urdu, Telugu, and Hindi.
During every visit to USA he was invited to be a keynote Speaker. He regularly lectured on invitations. He addressed the youth at the MCC, the first Muslim Community Center in Chicago. Dr. Azher Abdul Khader regularly invited Dr. Ahmed to speak during the Community Builders’ meetings.
Dr. Ahmed was invited to Pakistan when the Urdu edition was released by Mr. Javeed Jabbar, Minister of Information was presented with a literary award. After his retirement from the civil service, he was invited to Iran and Saudi Arabia. He also served as Member of the Central Wakf Council and as Chairman Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board. The last official government position he held was as Chairman Minority Commission. This is a very important position that allows its Chairman to serve the minorities in the country. The Indian Minority Commission is equivalent to a Central Minister’s position. Hence he was allotted security, privileged access to Government entities and enhanced travel facilities.
Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed served the Muslim community by introducing a specialized education system for the poor and needy, and by writing several books geared towards Islam. He did all his work without pride, quietly and without speaking or bragging about his never-ending services. An exemplary individual, an inspiration to his peers and juniors. He enjoyed respect from everyone that ever met him.
Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed was considered for the Ambassador’s position in Qatar in 1974. He was considered also for the Governor’s position in 1975 by President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed who was a very close friend and admirer for Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed, promised rewarding positions once the 700 Amir Khusrau book was completed. Unfortunately, President Fakhruddin Ahmed passed away before fulfilling his commitments made to Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed.
In spite of his high status and high positions that he held, Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed was still a very simple, down to earth person. No one can deny this honest to God truth
